Following their I/O talk entitled HTTPS Everywhere Google have been testing taking into account whether sites use secure, encrypted connections as a signal in their search ranking algorithm.
This is great news for users privacy and security so I really hope webmasters take note and start hosting their sites using HTTPS by default.
