I look back at the early versions of my jimcode website and I cannot help but ask “what was I thinking?!”. Still, it has been around for a long time in one for or another. Originally it was static HTML and CSS, and probably some tables. I quickly developed my own templating system called wemplates using java – I will see if I can dig the code up for it and post on here one of these days.

Just returned from a fantastic canoe trip in the wilderness of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Minnesota. There really is nothing like this in the UK, or Guernsey, so it was well worth the effort to go and spend six days trekking by canoe through this genuinely unspoilt wilderness. Didn’t see any bears or moose but spotted just about every other sort of wildlife – from Eagles to Beavers! We hired all of our gear from North Country Canoe Outfitters who did a great job (although some better waterproofing would have helped!).
